GTW: Gym, Tan, Walmart?

Today my life was super glamourous (can you hear the sarcasm?) After waking up early and sitting and waiting FOREVER for the bug man to come spray our house mom realized that the appointment she thought was scheduled for 10 - 12 was actually for between 12 - 2.  So after some more sitting and waiting he finally came and sprayed to ensure our house remains bug free.
That's when the big excitement of the day began! Mom and I finally were able to go work out. Now a little back ground. A couple of summers ago we decided to join a gym. Now the gym we joined wasn't just any gym, it was the cardiac rehab gym attached to the hospital. Yes, that's right, the gym we go to is the one patients use while recovering from heart attacks. If you're ever looking for a stress free non competitive gym where people are just glad to be there (or alive in general) I highly suggest you join one of these. You never have to worry about someone running full speed on the treadmill next to you or lifting more than you weigh in free weights. Everyone is friendly and there is never a wait for equipment. I was certainly glad to be back!
After a strenuous workout (20 minutes on the elliptical is hard yall!) we made a "quick" stop by Walmart. As any person who's ever step foot in a Walmart knows there is no such thing as a quick trip, especially when you get a buggy. Getting a buggy is truly the worst thing you can do while shopping and I only advocate their use in certain situations such as you're buying a box of copy paper or a 24 pack of bottled water. When you get a buggy you are temped to buy so much more, but when you only have your hands you only buy what you can carry. (You're all welcome for this wisdom!)
After Walmart we came home and I decided to enjoy our backyard and tan for a little while. I'm happy to report I'm not burnt and slightly less pale. I'll have to start making this a habit and hopefully in time I'll develop an actual tan.
See, didn't I tell you my life was super glamourous today? Maybe tomorrow will be more glamourous with a trip to Rouse's or Sonic for happy hour.

Favorite Things Friday

Today I wanted to share with you my current favorite song, Mama's Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert. Miranda is one of my favorite artists and I think this might be one of her best songs yet. It is perfect for blaring in the car or when you're getting ready in the morning. It is a true southern country song.

Old Sport

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books, so naturally I was ecstatic when I heard they were making it into a movie. That excitement grew even more when I heard Leonardo DiCaprio was to play Gatsby. This joy was quickly crushed when the release date was pushed back from Christmas so as not to compete with Les Mis (a complete mistake, there is a reason the movie is called the miserables). Then the release date was such bad timely. So needless to say my anticipation for this film was escalating to unhealthy proportions.

Finally I went to go see it last night with my family and I have to say it certainly lived up to my hype. The rest of my family disagreed, but I thought it was fabulously done.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone who might not be familiar with the story (seriously though if you haven't read it you should go reevaluate your life) so I will simply say that it was a beautifully done over the top spectacle. Leo played Gatsby to his full glory and made me fall in love with the story all over again.

My one and only criticism of the film is that they should have included Jay Z and Alicia Keys' song Empire State of Mind. I think it was an overlooked, obvious choice that should have been included.

Testing 1 2 3

Well I decided to give this blogging thing a try (yes again). I think my life is fairly interesting and I'm funny enough so why not use my strong written communication skills (can you tell I've been filling out a lot of job applications lately?) to tell the story of my current life.

So here it is, the story of a college graduate looking for her first real job. I'm the past sorority president who moved from the sorority house back home to mom and dad. I'm the overqualified but with not enough experience.

I can't promise to write all the time or be funny all the time, but I can promise to be authentic all the time. And hey, if this turns out to be a giant disaster I've already discovered how easy it is to delete posts.
