Throw Back Thursday

Today I'm linking up for Throw Back Thursday!

Seriously, isn't this the most fun linkup!? It's certainly my favorite day to look through Instagram.

In honor of Wimbledon we're going to throw it back to my tennis playing days. Now I looked all over but unfortunately (for you, but very fortunate for me. These were the mega awkward years) I couldn't find any pictures to accompany this post, so you'll just have to use your imagination. I have provided some good substitutes though to help you out!

Okay, so maybe I didn't look exactly like Maria Sharapova, but she was one of my inspirations for playing. Any sport where you could wear earrings and skirts sounded right up my alley.

When I was about 11 my best friend decided she was going to go to tennis camp for the summer at her tennis club and invited me to come too. I had never picked up a racquet before in my life, but I had watched the US Open with my Grandmother for as long as I could remember so I figured why not give it a shot.

Well I wasn't very good, if we're going to be honest I was probably the worst one out there which is saying a lot because there was a 7 year old. But boy did I have fun! We played games all morning and then got a lunch break where our head instructor would grill us hamburgers and teach us some french (so we'd be prepared for when we went to the French Open one day). Then we'd play more games in the afternoon. At the end of the summer we finally worked up to being able to play actual matches.

After that summer I took lessons and went back to camp a couple of times. I never got really, really good, but I always had a lot of fun. I haven't picked up my racquet (except to move it back and forth every time I went to school) in a couple of years, so I'm sure I'm really terrible now.

I think of every blog post as a conversation. I hope you'll join in and leave a comment so I'm not just talking to myself.
