Weekend Update

I think it's pretty well documented that I love living in Mississippi. But one thing I don't love about my town is the lack of shopping options; forget about Neiman Marcus or Saks, there isn't even a Macy's in the whole state of Mississippi.

Lucky for us we only live about an hour and a half away from NOLA so we have access to more shopping fairly easily. Saturday my mom and sister decided to make the drive over to look for a homecoming dress, and at the last minute I decided to tag along. The theme of the dance is The Great Gatsby, and I think she found a perfect dress for it (fits the theme, but doesn't look like a costume from Party City). I also found some great dresses for a steal!

This gorgeous pink dress (seriously this picture doesn't do it justice) was regularly $230, I got it for $30!

This fun party dress was regularly $159, I got it for $24!

Now I just need somewhere equally fabulous to wear them.

After all that shopping (about 5 hours worth!) I was in need of a serious treat. We met my grandmother for dinner at Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro for dinner. I got these delicious pulled pork sliders from their special summer menu. One had a spicy mango salsa, and the other two had different cheeses on them (I can't remember what type, one was white and one yellow). They were seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten!
poor photo quality = obviously not a food blogger

And then to finish I seriously treated myself to this giant slice of raspberry white chocolate cheese cake. YUM! I was so full after it hurt, but it was all so delicious it was totally worth it.

We spent Saturday night at my grandmother's and drove back home Sunday afternoon. I spent the rest of the weekend making a list of places I want to send my resume this week and reading my latest library find.

I'm almost done, so be expecting a post with reviews of all my summer reading soon.

Even though I don't go to class or to work during the week I certainly enjoyed having the long vacation. Hope you did too!
