Campaign buttons featuring First Ladies displayed in the Smithsonian
If I were First Lady my issue would be kindness. I think that is one of the most important things children in America lack today. The "mean girl" phase is starting earlier and lasting longer, and that's just not cool. A few years ago one of the other sororities at Ole Miss brought the Kind Campaign onto to campus to show their video, and it just really touched me. I've never understood people who are just plain mean. I've never felt the need to lash out at others with cruelty, but I know plenty of girls who do it daily.
When I was in 8th grade I wrote this essay for a contest about my three wishes for the world. One of my wishes was for everyone to have a friend. If I ever were to become First Lady, or be in a position to advise one, I would want that to my the campaign worked on for the four (or eight) years in office. I truly believe that if everyone had a real friend they wouldn't feel the need to be so mean. I hope to spread kindness through friendship. If we can convince school children that meanness is lame, just think how nice the real world will be once those children grow up and enter it. This is something that would keep growing and spreading, helping the whole world to be better.
Being First Lady is about so much more than just being the wife to the most powerful man in the world. Sure you get to hop on Air Force One for rides and host fancy State dinners, but you also get to help make a difference in our country. And that's why I think being First Lady would be the ultimate job, in a total non-creepy/power hungry way.
I think that would be an amazing job!!!!!! All the lives you could help would be endless
