Weekend Update

Okay so I know this post is going up way later in the day than normal, but better late than never, right?

I had the best weekend in a long time, and as a bonus I even remembered to take some photos so you don't just have to take my word for it

Friday night I had to celebrate being in my favorite town by having my favorite meal

I promise I ate more than just a margarita

There were too many LSU fans in town to go out Friday night so we just stayed in and watched 21 Jump Street. Saturday we slept-in in preparation for all the energy needed for Saturday's game. Once we finally got ready we headed out in the most perfect Fall weather ever for the Grove.

My all time favorite guy!

One of my pledge class favorites. The Theta kitchen staff still is convinced we're related

Seriously if you've never been to the Grove, do yourself a favor and go. There is simply no better place in all the world. And I'm not just being biased, just google it and read one of the many articles written about how it's the best tailgating experience.

Our Groving time was short because we wanted to make sure we got good seats at the game. The student section is a free for all, first come first serve seating. If you don't get there early you run the risk of missing the lower seats due to fraternity pledges saving huge blocks.

Front Row right above the team walk out! Well worth showing up 2 hours before kick-off

Casual Archie Manning sighting, a completely normal thing for an Ole Miss game

This weekend Ole Miss won the party and the game!

I was so proud, excited, shocked that we beat LSU!!! We played so well the whole game. Which was a surprise relief because so many of our key players were out injured. I wish I had thought to pull out my phone and record the last few seconds to share because the excitement in the stadium was like nothing I've ever experienced. I'm so glad I got to be there to experience it in person.

After the game we walked to the Square to continue celebrating our huge win. My phone died at this point so I sadly don't have any photos to share. But really you're not missing much because I was so drunk excited that I probably would have only taken pictures of my chicken on a stick. Yes, that is exactly what it is, fried chicken on a stick, AKA the most delicious drunk food in the world. Oh and to make it that much classier you buy it from a gas station.

The only downside to the whole day was the insane amount of walking I did. Parking is absolutely ridiculous on game days so we decided to just walk from my friends' apartment to the Grove. Walked around the Grove. Walked to the stadium. Stood up/jumped up and down every time we scored the whole game. Walked from the stadium to the Square. Walked back home from the Square. I wish I had worn a pedometer so I could see exactly how many miles I walked I woke up Sunday and felt like I'd just ran a marathon. Plus my feet still hurt today.

I stayed in Oxford Sunday so I could go watch my brother being inducted into Phi Kappa Phi.

And then we celebrated with a brother sister dinner date at one of my favorite Oxford restaurants, Obys.

If you're ever in Oxford or Starkville you have to go and order this chicken tender plate!

This morning I woke up and hit the road early. I love driving back and forth to Oxford because I get to see so many beautiful parts of my state. At one point I rounded a corner on the highway and was overcome by how absolutely beautiful the cotton fields were. I wish I hadn't been driving so I could have snapped a photo; it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
