DIY Kate Spade earrings

Late last year Kate Spade put out the most adorable glittery stud earrings. They came in gold, blue, and multi and were the perfect amount of sparkle for everyday or a special occasion. You might remember them from the numerous gift guides, including mine, I'm sure you saw, seriously these were so popular. They were so popular that they sold out everywhere before I could snatch up a pair for myself. So what's a girl to do in this situation, well make her own of course! And that's exactly what I did

This DIY is seriously so simple it's stupid. You just need pair of large square stud earrings, mine were less than $3 at Walmart or you could up upcycle a pair you currently own, glitter nail polish, and clear topcoat nail polish.

Take your glitter nail polish and paint the stone of each earring. The trick is to find a polish with large specks of glitter; I used ICE multi colored. You'll want to apply it evenly and a little thicker than you would on your nails. Let it dry and apply a second coat. Once that's dry you can add a third coat if you've missed any spots. It's really important that you let each coat dry completely so the layers are smooth and even.

Once your last glitter coat is dry apply a coat of clear just to seal it all in. Once that dries you're all done! A super fun and adorable set of Kate Spade lookalikes that cost you about $7.

PS they look waaay better in person! My camera had a hard time focusing on the glitter

What's your best DIY?

  2. What a GREAT idea! If I find the right size studs, I might give this a try. I love the multicolored glitter look. :)
