Do you consider yourself a feminist?

This past weekend the newly crowned Miss USA caused a stir with her response to the final question before being crowned. What do you consider feminism to be and do you consider yourself a feminist?  What a loaded question, right?

I've never considered myself a feminist. You'll never find me burning a bra or feeling offended by a gentlemanly gesture. I'll gladly stop and wait for a door to be held open for me. I'm first in line to have someone else carry a heavy box or do any handy work. But watching these three women give their responses to this prompt I suddenly had a change of heart.

A little throwback to my one pageant. RIP to my high school skinny body

A feminist is someone who believes all females are capable of achieving anything they put their minds to achieving. And yes I do consider myself a feminist. My mom always says I live my life by the saying "she believed she could so she did."  I think that saying perfectly embodies my new idea of what a feminist truly is. With this new idea of feminism I think the world needs a few more feminists.

I think of every blog post as a conversation. I hope you'll join in and leave a comment so I'm not just talking to myself.
